The term Cushing’s syndrome can be defined as a group of physical disorders triggered by exposure to increased levels of cortisol for a prolonged period of time. Cushing’s syndrome can also be resulted by continuous consumption of prescription corticosteroids. Cushing’s syndrome is commonly marked by signs like:
Metabolic disorders: An elevated level of cortisol can badly affect the endocrine system of an individual. People suffering from this disorder often experience extreme fatigue and severe muscle weakness. Irritability and depression are also common among these patients. It has also been found that a large share of patients diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome possesses high blood sugar levels, which results in conditions like increase in frequency of urination and augmented thirst. When the levels of cortisol stays elevated for a long period of time, the patient might also develop hypertension.
