Eating Disorders Induce Infertility

Bulimia and anorexia are eating disorders and is quite common in the western counties. People suffering from bulimia control their calorie intake through vomiting or purging after meals; on the other hand people having anorexia control their calorie intake strictly, which is often close to starvation. Both the bulimics and anorexics often exercise too much and intake excess amounts of diuretics and laxatives. Studies have shown that extreme dieting and exercise can lead to hormonal disorders in women and can be a reason behind infertility. However, in majority of the cases the extreme behaviors associated with bulimia and anorexia are not everlasting and can be dealt with successfully with proper guidance from the attending physician.
